We sat down on the stairs to the deck. Our faces were red and sweat was dripping from our hairlines down. Our arms were even sweating. It was early June in the Lowcountry and already 90 degrees at 9am in the morning, when Katie first came to me at the Forsyth Farmers Market in Savannah, …
A Biodiverse Regenerative Farm in the Heart of the Lowcountry
For the Environment
Every thing we do on our farm is based off of regenerative, organic practices to make sure we are restoring the natural ecosystems for years to come instead of destroying them.
For Our Livestock
Our chickens, pigs, cows, goats, ducks, rabbits and more are raised and rotated through the forests giving them an ever changing natural habitat that creates enrichment and health beyond even pasture raised.
For the Community
From the PAY WHAT YOU CAN Produce Stand at the head of the driveway to our farm, to the classes we offer and partnerships with local businesses we maintain to better our community, we’re always giving ourselves and giving back to our community.
We started our Farm back in 2015 to give our brand new baby, Ellie a chance to grow up as a producer and less of a consumer, to teach her that everything she touches, eats, says, effects others. We started our farm to bring her closer to the land, sharing it with you all is a bonus we never imagined we’d experience.
For the environment.
For our livestock.
For the community.
For our family.
Everything we do on our farm is for the greater good and the betterment of our planet as a whole. Whether it’s as hyper focused as the soil in our garden or as broad as the donations we accept from supporters from all over the world to help feed our local community our organically grown produce and forest fed meats and eggs, we work daily to produce, educate and share with our community.
We are a true working, biodiverse regenerative farm with roots in the heart of the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Woman owned and operated by a first generation farmer, Marissa puts her mission for the environment and the community first. Everything that we do is based off of restoring soil health, increasing water retention, promoting biodiversity and helping to create carbon negativity on the 40 acres that house Whippoorwill Farms SC and the thousands of livestock that call it home.

Through Her Eyes – A Reflection Blog
In my truly darkest moments, in my moments where fear breaks through in heart palpitations, I at least know that I can look at myself in the mirror and remind myself that I am still evolving. I have come so far, yet I have so much further to journey in my evolution as a person. I remind myself that in evolution there are growing pains, I’m feeling them now as I evolve. But when I come out on the other side, the growth will be an achievement in and of itself, if only I can allow myself to see it.
My husband loves me, I know this, he loves me fiercely. But at least one time per week he loses his patience with me over my housewife duties being incomplete, or leaving tools out, or putting the farm and animals above brushing Ellie’s hair (yeah I know, I’m working on this and have been since …
