Job Description
The Guest Experience and Farm Assistant in short, will assist with all things guest experience related from greeting and welcoming guests and shoppers to “flipping” and preparing the on farm Air BnBs to ready for new check ins. The Guest Experience and Farm Assistant will be taught about the farm operation, the science behind what we do and why and be able to answer questions that guests have. The Guest Experience and Farm Assistant will be in charge of checking out guests who are shopping on the farm and will be responsible for collecting monies for goods purchased. When no guests are coming in, the Guest Experience and Farm Assistant will help with other light duty farm work like washing and packing eggs or veggies, maintaining camping sites and keeping the guest area of the farm clean and tidy.
What are the hours like: Guest Experience and Farm Assistant will report directly to the Farm Owners and other management staff and work alongside of other staff to ensure guests are taken care of that are checking in for the agritourism opportunities and shoppers are taken care of as well. Ideally the Guest Experience and Farm Assistant will work 6 days per week for 4 hours per day in the afternoons for a total of 24 hours per week. Duties would ideally begin after the heat of the day between 3-5pm onward. Sometimes cleaning the Air BnBs would need to happen earlier in the day, depending on check ins. Farm owner can be flexible as to what day off is preferred. It would also be possible to work 7 days one week and then have 2 days off in a row the next and so on and so forth. Once you learn the operation and understand what is needed, we can discuss flexibility. Our biggest concern is hours are met and guests are taken care of.
Whats the job like: The Guest Experience and Farm Assistant will be the face of the farm for our guests. The first impression we give guests and shoppers will be given by you. A happy, friendly, bubbly person, who truly enjoys working with the public and chatting with travelers and shoppers is the ideal candidate. The Guest Experience and Farm Assistant should be open minded as well and willing to help with a variety of tasks when not assisting guests as our farm is a very diverse, busy and booming operation. Any light duty tasks would be expected to be helped with and could vary daily. Things like checking water levels and refilling for chickens, collecting eggs, washing eggs, packing eggs for markets, washing and packing veggies, organizing packing sheds, watering plants and helping pack orders. The Guest Experience and Farm Assistant may also be asked to help package, vacuum seal or label chicken during processing. The Guest Experience and Farm Assistant might also be asked to help with Farm to Table dinners and events by helping set up, break down or even serve food and drinks. The Guest Experience and Farm Assistant will also be responsible for cleaning our Air BnBs on farm after each use which include a Retro Style RV and a Tiny House. Cleaning the Air BnBs are not difficult, but they take an eye for detail and ability to move around in small spaces, lift mattresses and bend and clean the floor and other small spaces. Guest Experience and Farm Assistant should enjoy being outside in lots of different weather and walking and being active. Depending on hours, the Guest Experience and Farm Assistant may also be asked to lock chickens up at dusk as well.
Compensation Package:
24 hours per week
6 month commitment
Paid as a private, gravel 30 amp RV Site with water/electric/dump
Ideal candidate is a single work camper or a couple
Potential possibility for second person to be hired on as part time hourly staff
